A high quality door seal is another important aspect of a well-designed
cellar. If there is a gap between the bottom of the door and the
floor, the cool air will sink and flow out beneath the door. While
the release of the cool air may be subtle, it will require the
WhisperKOOL unit to continue to operate without achieving the desired
results. Use good-quality weather-stripping and seals around the
cellar door to prevent cool air leakage. See the Guide to Wine
Cellar Construction for more details.

To determine if your cellar door seal is adequate, please follow the steps below.
- Outside your cellar, turn all lights ON.

- Go into your cellar.

- Turn all cellar lights OFF.

- Close your cellar door.

- No light should be visible from the door edges.

- If you see light on the top or sides of your cellar door, consider replacing the door seal.

- If you see light on the bottom of your cellar door, consider replacing the door sweep.

If your wine cellar door lacks a good seal you can see light seeping in on all sides and / or the bottom of the door.
