The cabinet and bulk shipping is provided by freight transport companies chosen specifically by each individual distributor. Therefore, the distributors are essentially the initial contact for filing a damage freight claim. We will provide assistance as needed for the completion of these claims; however, we cannot be responsible for the reimbursement of the damaged product.
When a product is damaged during freight transport, the customer must notify the distributor immediately, who in turn files a damage claim with the freight company. If the damage is minor or cosmetic, we will assist in contacting a local furniture repair service for touch-up and/or repair. However, if the cabinet is beyond repair and a replacement product is required, the distributor must place a new order for the item with Vinotheque Wine Cellars. We will process the order in the same manner as the original, and once the freight transport company reimburses the distributor, they can use those funds for payment on the replacement product.
Please be aware that any freight damage must be noted on the bill of lading at the time of delivery. The owner's manual and cover letter reiterate this issue ahead of time. Without notation on the bill of lading, we will have not basis in which to file a freight claim.
